This Week the weather has turned a little wintry on us, the weekend certainly had members trying out their waterproofs and wooly hats..and tights! But undeterred plenty of golf was played and all competitions completed on schedule. Let's hope we remain so fortunate all winter.
Monday evening saw biblical rain storms across the region and coupled with high winds brought our courses first casualty of the winter, The tree on route to the 3rd green and behind the Ladies 7th tee was found on Tue morning straddling the path. After a busy morning with the chainsaw making a few logs for the fire the path was cleared for golfers. All we need is for the rain to stop!!
The forecast towards the weekend doesn't look too bad so fingers crossed we can all play some golf.
Congratulations to Andrew Collings on Winning the Sheffield Union Seniors Championship at waterfront Golf Club and to George Nicholson who won the Sheffield Union Junior Championship.
It's been a great season for both and this is a top achievement! Well done.
Here they are pictured at the Sheffield Union Prize Giving last Friday receiving their trophies.
This last weekend saw round 2 of the new Winter League and round 2 of the popular Good Companions. After looking at the weather forecast on Friday any hopes of golf over the weekend were fading fast and Saturday morning wasn't the most glorious start but to everyone's surprise the course was open on 18 full greens so the winter league went ahead and we had 39 players enter.
The leading scores and event sweep winners were:
P Marsh - 41pts (the HCP Sec!!) Not much Flak!!
J Brennan - 34pts
Steve 'Isaac' Newton - 33pts
Ian Hennessey - 33pts

Wednesday night coaching at Sandhill Golf Range will resume on 7th Dec from 5 O'clock. Contact me in the Shop, by email or on 07855392634 to arrange.
All lessons will include high speed camera footage and flightscope data to help you improve. Winter is a great time to work on your golf game in readiness for next season without the pressure of performing in summer competitions.
There are many different ways you can work on your golf through the winter, lessons don't always mean a swing change… maybe you can work on your distance control or work on your club yardages, have your equipment checked for correct loft and lie or try some new equipment against your existing to see if there is anything to be gained in accuracy, distance or consistency… all these aspects are easily monitored with the flightscope and camera technology so why not give it a try.
Motocaddy Mitts are selling well…No Surprise !! Anyone with a pair on order will be pleased to hear that new stocks will be arriving this next week.
