Modernising Golf's Rules

Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.

The Winter League

The Winter League is hotting up with only 2 events left to play. Saturday's event was won by Andy Croft with 38 points, beating his previous best by 5 points to get of the mark and score his 1st league points of the season, he beat Hugh Crawshaw on a count back and Ian Crossley by 1. Hugh was back on form Sat (after some excellent Fri evening coaching ) and made up ground in the league to get within 5 shots of Malcolm Richardson who had 36 points and had to settle for 9 points. Other notables were John Dalton Steve Rotchell, Ian Hennesy (hole in 1 boy) and Paul Hutton (Congratulations on your Engagement Paul) who all had 36 points.

Sunday we had the final Winter Stableford of the season and the weather was awful.. really awful!! 

Marc Whittles had 1 hand on the trophy at the start of play but with a handful of players still in with a shout it was far from being over. In the end though Marc held firm and got the job done he was just pipped for the day prize by Phil Fielding but his 34 points were enough to win the Winter Stableford series from Paul Hutton, Richard Exton and Andrew Wilson. Rabbits AGM

The Rabbits section is a great friendly section with away days, matches against other clubs and lots of competitions and social events. AGM Wed 22nd March all are welcome to attend.
