Guy Comport Trophy Last weekend it was the Guy Comport Trophy, a chance to get your name on the honours board always inspires a good entry and 96 players took part in this Bogey format competition. Bogey is a format that seems to divide opinion with some liking it and some very much disliking it, whatever your views that was the day’s exam and scoring was pretty good with two players tied on +2, four players on +1 and five players on level. Howard Burton won the title on a countback, so well done Howard great playing off a five handicap…now off four! Dave Stephenson who almost done a Roger Federer like came back to win after an injury enforced six months off was runner up. These two were clear of the group on +1 Andrew Wilson playing well off a eight handicap Andrew Collings who defended his Sheffield Seniors crown successfully a few weeks ago at Wath, Alan Picasso Taylor and the Welsh wizard Steve Linton. Click here to view full results. Ladies Medal number nine Ladies Medal number nine was played on Monday, 1 August and was won by Marilyn Steel with a nett 75 beating Val Bellamy’s 75 on a countback.
