Allez Le Bleus Well, what a fabulous weekend the Ryder cup was! Paris certainly delivered as did our team, simply amazing passion and play from Europe as we dismantled the Americans, 17 ½ to 10 1/2. I like many, predicted the Americans to win but we were having none of it with inspired performances from all our players. Such a shame to see the infighting by the Americans in the wake of their defeat, but I guess in some ways that could be a glimpse into why they don’t do ‘team’ like Europe do. Anyway, a wonderful showcase for our game and hopefully inspire some new golfers into the game, I wonder if had it been on the BBC it would have inspired more new golfers. Something we can’t ever know but it was the Ryder Cup and The Masters on TV that inspired me as a 14-year old-boy, so can’t help thinking it would. |
Captain’s Charity Day Mick and Val had a fabulous Charity Day on Saturday with over 100 players competing for the team prize, the format was best two to count for 12 holes, then three to count for the last six holes in a stableford format. The half-way house had fine home-made baking to refresh players on the 9th and with a 50’s night for the evening and a lovely meal everyone had a great day. The gents winners were; Roger Gillespie, Hugh Crawshaw, Kirk Dyson Kirk Dyson with a score of 102 points. The ladies winners were; Eileen Hayes, Maureen Wasden, Maureen Aitken, Ann Crawshaw with 99 points. |

A special mention to Pat Smith who had a hole-in-one on the 5th hole. Well done Pat. Here she is enjoying her halfway house snacks with playing partners Margret Hatfield and Diana Swaine. |

To sleeve or not to sleeve |
Being underprepared when you're out on the course is a blunder which we've all been guilty of making. As the cold weather starts rolling in, you need to start thinking about some layering pieces that keep you warm and dry, but also lets you have freedom of movement during your round. Luckily for you, we have just the answer. |
Galvin Green Diego pullover Galvin Green has given you a perfect solution, in the form of its Diego pullover. This 1/2 zip top is easy to put on and take off throughout the course of a round, and boasts four distinctive colourways - three of which you can see here. The chest pocket is also a handy feature for keeping any extra gear nice and dry during the winter months, such as your scorecard. |
|
Galvin Green Lawson gilet If you prefer the gilet look, why not try the Lawson? This vest is extremely breathable, meaning you won't be overheating during your round, even with the extra layer. The three colourways are very easy on the eye, and the front pockets add a nice dose of practability into the mix, making this body warmer the full package to be worn on and off the course. |
