What's been going on in the competition front? Winter League 10 was played on Saturday. 61 players entered and played in pleasant conditions with only one temporary green in play and lots of nice comments about the course, amazing to be playing on the greens in such condition in January, long may it continue. The winner of event 10 was 15-years-old, Tom Beaumont with 40 points a fabulous score off a recently lowered handicap proving that hard work does pay off; helped also by youth and massive tee shots! But I’m sure you have all seen Tom in the nets on freezing cold days whacking balls when we are all inside in the warmth. Well done Tom, keep up the good work. Alan Calderbank and Kevin Mooney both had 38 points with Kevin grabbing second on a countback and five players on 37 points in order of countback were Liam Dawson, Martyn Bates, Philip Truelove, Mick Travis and Ed Birkby. Well done to everyone. The Order Of Merit table after 10 events still has Steve Newton on top with 50 points with a closing Simon Potter on 41 points with Brian Baker in third on 38 points, and the afore mentioned Tom Beaumont moving into fourth spot on 37 points. All to play for in event 11.
