Welcome to this week's edition to Wortley Golf Club's weekly newsletter. We hope that you're having a good week both on and off the golf course. Enjoy the read. |
Longest Day Challenge Lady Captain Janet Moorhouse and three intrepid fellow members Val Bellamy, Sarah Burke and Alison Stenson completed their 72-hole challenge on Sunday in triumphant fashion raising money Macmillan Cancer Support on the way. All the girls looked remarkably fresh after their gruelling challenge which started at 5am on Sunday morning and finished at around 7:45pm Sunday evening. The four of them played all four rounds and scored very well in all of them, I watched the final seven holes and was mightily impressed by the quality of their golf after so many hours on their feet. Well done girls, Wortley Golf Club is proud of you all. |
Look North Wortley Golf Club was featured in a piece on Look North this week with Harry Gration playing a few holes with Me, Mr Captain Mike Toon and Vice-Captain Stuart Davies. He interviewed Lady Rowena and our own Lady Captain Janet Moorhouse on a piece about golf and its challenges in today’s competitive market and how Wortley is facing up to those challenges in its 125th year. We had an excellent morning with Harry and the cameraman Mark with his drone capturing some excellent footage of Wortley from above. It was fascinating how 2 ½ hours of work and footage goes into a 2-minute piece on the news. Harry and Mark were lovely guys and made us all feel relaxed throughout.
