Congratulations on inclusion in the Sheffield Union of Golf Clubs’ League Team
We at the Sheffield Union are always looking for up and coming new talent for the SUGC league team. We have had Lewis in our sights for some time, noting how well he has performed as the lead player in our own Wortley club league team. But as ever with our potential recruits, we need them to have attained and maintained a handicap of scratch or better.
As a result, Lewis was invited to play in the last three matches played in the Yorkshire Inter-District Union league. He has performed very successfully, winning all his singles matches, only losing a couple of foursomes. The latter format is the most difficult for a newcomer to the team to cope with. Pleasing to record were his singles scores: 3&2, 4&2 and one-up, the last having suffered a barrage of birdies from his opponent to be three-down after four and eight holes, but he dug in deep to himself birdie the last two holes to achieve the 1up win. How’s that for commitment and tenacity! Well done, Lewis, congratulations on a fine performance.
