Last Week's Competitions Last week we had a busy winter competition weekend with the start of both the Winter League and the Good Companions. The Winter League is played through the winter with the winner on each event receiving 15 points and all places below receiving points down to 1 point for 15th place. Usually, we have 15 events through to March where we have a Grand Final, this year there are double points available for the Final so players will still be able to boost their OOM position with a good last round.
The 1st event was won by Paul Hutton who is playing excellent golf with 41 points beating his nearest rival Bob Bennett by 4 points. I witnessed the round as the Captain Mr Mike Toon and I were playing against Paul and His partner Howard Burton. We battled well but were comfortably dispatched 5&4, great playing guys and well done Paul on winning the first Winter League. In 3rd and 4th place were Richard Hodgson and Charles Mills who both had 36 points.
Good Companions the monthly greensomes event where the pair with the best 3 scores from 6 win the Trophy and host the prize-giving dinner in April was won by Howard Burton and Paul Hutton ( on form these guys ) with 66 beating Richard Moss and Paul Whitaker on a countback.
The Ladies had a Par/Stableford on Tuesday and the in-form Val Bellamy was again the winner with -3 in the par format beating Ann Crawshaw on -5 and Alison Stenson on -7.
