December is here

Into December we go, and with a dry week for a change! As I write this we have some summer greens in play and the sun is shining, let's hope it keeps fine for the weekend.

On Saturday we have a Greenkeepers Competition where donations will be given to the green staff in appreciation of all the hard work they put in over the season.

This is a new event for us at Wortley and a great way for members to thank Tim and his team, who have worked tirelessly all season and especially in recent months when the weather has been very much against them.

Good companions Winter Series

This Sunday we have the 3rd event in the Good Companions Winter Series. We will see who leads the way after the three rounds are complete and will have an idea of how the new handicap system is working.

Hopefully, there will be many pairs still in with a chance as we head into 2020 and the have the final three events in January, February and March.

Christmas Comp

We have a signup list in the shop for the Xmas Comp on Saturday 15th December this will be a fun Texas scramble format with teams of four playing a minimum of three drives each.

Bacon and coffee will be available before tee off and Turkey, stuffing and cranberry rolls with roast potatoes served after play. Call us at the shop on 0114 2888469 to book your place or call in the shop next time you are at the club.

The Christmas Comp entry is £3 person, if you require pre-golf and/or after golf food please inform us on entry.

Food costs are £3 for bacon and coffee and £5 for the turkey and stuffing.

Xmas Draw and Xmas Putting Comp

This year we have our usual Xmas Draw up and running with fabulous prizes on offer to those lucky enough to win. Tickets or squares are £1 each or seven for £5, 15 for £10 or 35 for £20. Enter in the pro shop anytime before Tuesday 24th December.

This year we also have an ongoing putting challenge with the chance to win a fabulous putt out bundle worth £150.

The rules are that you can practice as much as you want but to enter you must pay £3. For this you get five balls, if you hole one ball you get your £3 back, hole two consecutive putts and get £10 cashback, hole three and get £25 cashback.

Each time you get the ball in the hole you receive three points and the one with the most points on Tuesday 31st December will win the bundle.

How times have changed
