Hello to you all...well.. this was not what we were expecting eh? After a long winter of flooding and not being able to play golf we were all looking forward to the nicer weather and the prospect of golf on the greens again! Alas, not to be. GOLF CLOSED was something we thought we would never hear or see in our lifetimes. These are testing times for us all and I hope you are all keeping safe and well. We are fortunate that Tim and his staff, Jamie and Tom are allowed to keep the golf course maintaned for us during this lockdown and we all look forward to the time when we can get back out there to play the course. Jamie celebrates 25 years at Wortley this week so huge congratulations to him and thank you for his long service to the Club. Pictures of the course on Twitter will have to keep us going for now. As many of you know I myself employ Will and Andy to work in the pro shop and am very proud of our team and the service we offer and I am making plans for when we can return to full strength. Hughie (my Dad) is also an important part of my team and a huge help to us each day. Dad is safely in lockdown much to his annoyance and Will and Andy are currently 'furloughed' as per government advice. I would like to thank Wortley Golf Club for its continued support. It is hugely appreciated as these difficult times will have a huge knock on effect for us all. The timing of the crisis could not have been worse for the Club with subs due at this time. Please, if you can, contact the Club and pay your subscriptions, I know it is a lot to ask but now more than ever the Club needs your support, ready for when we return and for the future of our fantastic Club. Please keep you and your loved ones safe. Rich. |
